The beautiful Danielle Toski with her daughters Lila (4.5) and Scarlett (2.5). Danielle chose to terminate her first pregnancy when she was 20 years old. She was not in a good place at the time, had been drinking and using drugs leaving her worried about the baby. While she knows it was the right decision it's something that she's always also considered with regret. After choosing to become a mother she suffered two miscarraiges and was worried that she would never be able to have a baby. When she finally conceived Lila and the pregnancy was healthy, she was thrilled. Things went well until around 36 weeks when she put on a lot of weight quickly and started to swell. She went to the doctor and he sent her right to the hospital to deliver due to concerns with her blood pressure. Lila was born 4 weeks prematurely but was perfectly healthy other than a bit of jaundice and Danielle was able to breast feed with supplemental formula for 6 months. Her second pregnancy was much easier to conceive but Danielle was diagnosed with gestation diabetes and had to administer daily insulin injections and test her blood sugar three times a day. She was able to carry to term this time and Scarlett was very healthy. Danielle initiated breastfeeding again without complication but at 2 weeks postpartum was diagnosed with severe postpartum depression and had to stop. Danielle has struggled with anxiety, bi-polar, depression and agoraphobia and has had quite a journey finding medications and the right combination of medications to allow her to feel healthy. She has currently started to focus on her physical health as an example for her daughters and a stepping stone to improve her mental health as well.
