The amazing Malani Yabsley, mother to Dante Kamaha'oonapu'uwai (November 30, 2013).
Malani is currently navigating motherhood, balancing what it is to be a mother without having a baby to show for it, feeling like a mother and questioning whether or not she is. Her pregnancy left her without stretch marks or lasting signs and she's still searching for the proof.
Malani's pregnancy was amazing and uncomplicated. She had an ultrasound November 26th and Dante was just perfect. Two days later, on Thanksgiving, he passed away. Her entire family was having Thanksgiving together and they dropped everything to come be with her. Malani remembers that simple gesture as one of the most powerful moments of her birth. Labor and delivery went well and as Dante was born sleeping she asked if she could hold him.
Dante spent the next 12 hours in his families arms. They were able to hold him, take pictures, and enjoy time with him as a family before they said good bye. There was never any cause found for Dante's death and Malani still marvels at just how perfect he was.
