The gorgeous Samantha Garcia Gagnon with her son Joseph (3) and daughter Estelle (7 months). Samantha was born and raised in the Philippines until she left for University and says that she always struggled with being the largest one amongst her full Filipino friends. She was surprised to find that she was most comfortable with her body while pregnant. She felt great about the changes and her growing belly. Samantha's mother always told her that birth was easy as long as you got an epidural so that's what she planned to do. She ended up needing to be induced and got her epidural as things progressed. She was able to vaginally birth Joseph but afterwards realized that it just wasn't what she had wanted. Breastfeeding went well and she was able to nurse him until he self-weaned at 22 months. Samantha trained to become a doula while pregnant with Estelle and it very much informed her choices. She hired two doulas, a midwife and planned a home birth. She had her tub ready, and labored for sometime before calling her midwife. Her midwife was at another birth in hospital and wasn't able to come. She considered free birthing but wasn't in the headspace to make such a shift while in labor and headed to the hospital. She was able to have the birth she desired this time, just in a different setting than she had ever imagined. Samantha love birth, babies and supporting women and is enjoying celebrating what her body has accomplished.
