The wonderful Jeanette Jimenez and Teagan (20 months).
Jeanette didn't want to have children and struggled her trimester with whether or not she was going to keep her baby. She never considered abortion but wasn't sure if she wanted to parent or give her baby to a family who, in her mind, could do a better job than she could. She ultimately realize that she couldn't have this person exist in the universe that she had created without having a chance to know who they are.
The remaining 6 months of her pregnancy Jeanette was incredibly excited about her baby and couldn't wait to meet her and know what she was going to look like. She dealt with a lot of loneliness, however, as she was quite isolated locationally from her family, as well as, her babies father who was living out of town as he finished school. He tried to make it for appointments but she went through most of the pregnancy milestones on her own.
Jeanette's water broke one evening while she was using the bathroom and she went to the hospital soon after. She had hoped to have a walking epidural at most if she needed medication but after 17 hours of labor and not progressing past two centimeters she decided to deliver via cesarean. While it wasn't the birth she'd envisioned she's very accepting of the birth she had.
Motherhood has been so amazing but also somewhat isolating for Jeanette. She's finishing up her college degree and says that she hears all the time that it takes a village but hasn't found hers just yet.
