The lovely Megan Leonard with her son Benjamin (1). Megan had a very healthy pregnancy but had to be induced due to high blood pressure at 39 weeks. She labored naturally for several hours until her doctor encouraged her to nap and suggested an epidural. She got an epidural and took a nice three hour nap. When it came time for delivery, however, Benjamin, was too stuck and had to be delivered via cesarean. A few hours later, it was determined that Ben's blood sugars were too low and he was taken to NICU. Megan was planning to exclusively breastfeed but ended up supplementing with formula in NICU to get his blood sugars in line. Megan was discharged after 4 days in hospital and Ben was able to come home a day later. Megan was able to continue breastfeeding until Ben was three months old. The stress of work caused her supply to diminish and she transitioned Ben to formula at 4 months. Megan says that she's felt a lot of pressure for her body to be what it was before pregnancy and birth but her son is her "perk" and things are different now but that doesn't need to be a bad thing.
