The captivating Nina Clark with her son Christopher (10 months). Nina is active duty, Army and was able to visit us in transit between her last duty station in Hawaii to training in Florida for her next overseas assignment! Her pregnancy with Christopher was very healthy, and she was able to continue running right up to the end. Her water broke just at term and labor progressed very slowly. After about 16 hours of labor, things were just not moving as they should have been, he wasn't dropping, she spiked a fever, and Christopher's heart rate was all over the place. She ultimately delivered via cesarean and discovered that his cord was wrapped around his neck twice which is why he wasn't dropping. She recovered from surgery without complication but had to get used to not having abdominal strength for the first couple months. Nina had hoped to breastfeed but wasn't able to maintain supply and chose to switch to formula. After a six month grace period, Nina was required to resume fitness testing and pass as part of her job so she's had to focus on gaining back her strength.
