The lovely Jessica Hernandez and her son Mason (17 months). Jessica is a labor and delivery nurse so she's spent a lot of time supporting mother's in giving birth to their babies. She tried for a long time to get pregnant with her previous partner and wanted nothing more than to be a mother but it never happened. Because she never thought it would happen so easily, Mason's conception was quite a surprise. Jessica had a healthy pregnancy until the very end when she developed preeclampsia. She had hoped to do things as naturally as possible but went into birth with an open mind. She was induced over three days with contractions steady every 2-4 minutes the entire time and near the end, was so exhausted that she wasn't certain she could continue. She opted to have an epidural so she could hopefully get some rest but she was never really able to get comfortable. One of her friends came on duty as her nurse and she knew it was going to happen. Her water broke and she was fully dilated and thought things would progress quickly but it was a few hours before her son was in her arms. Breastfeeding was very important to Jessica but she struggled the first four months. She thought if she could just make it to there, she'd reevaluate and at 17 months they are still going strong.
